Lawrence Liang, an Indian legal researcher and lawyer, co-founder of the Alternative Law Forum (Bangalore) and currently a visiting scholar at the University of Columbia, NYC, was in Paris for one week, with the support of the Foundation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (FMSH)
He gave two papers:
- A seminar on November 15 at FMSH: Critical Legal Practices. Reflecting on 10 years of the Alternative Law Forum. "The Alternative Law Forum provides legal support for people marginalized on the basis of class, race, caste, gender, disability or sexuality. We provide services for people who often have no access to them. Our main work is to conduct research on issues of globalization, urban studies, gender, as well as intellectual property and public domain.".
- A communication in the frame of a workshop on "The Image of Justice in French and Indian Films" organized by Antoine Garapon (Institut des Hautes Etudes sur la Justice) on Nov.18 at Maison des Sciences de la Communication, Paris: Juridical Affect and the Cinematic Courtroom.
In the same workshop, Ranabir Samaddar (Mahanirban Calcutta Research Group) presented also a communication: Passion, Drama, and the Indian Evidence Act.
