Through the Lens of Law: Power and Society in India, Paris, January 7-8, 2013

Starting December 2, 2012 - Ending December 2, 2023

The ANR four-year funding of the Just-India programme is ending. It has been our assumption that the details of people's interactions, verbal exchanges and power relationships point to the ways in which state power is implemented. This workshop is the opportunity to take stock of some of the results of these studies, and to reflect on possible research in the future.

This panel is part of the EASA conference on "Uncertainty and Disquiet", Nanterre, 10-13 July 2012.
Institutions which deal with the process of judging are directly concerned by the question of doubt. By putting ritual and judiciary settings into perspective we propose to discuss the techniques for casting and dispelling doubt and the role they play in the process leading to the final verdict.

Reconstruction, Reconciliation, and Rule of Law, in War and Post-War Countries, June 29, 2012

Attempts to introduce state legal systems and internationalize the judiciary in post-war countries are part of (often contested) processes of state building directly interlinked with the postcolonial conjuncture. The workshop aims at reflecting on these contemporary normative and political transformations.

Third Conference of Lassnet at the University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka, Dec. 14 -16, 2012.
